[ I have written a series of posts about the "pay the storm" bugaboos. I call it "The Stormpuke--Stormpay Story: Getting to the Heart of the Matter in Posts" . You can get it here. This nightmare is ongoing with no end in site. ]
We can all thank Surfer Steve for the nice Take the Last Train to Clarksville: A Rendition for StormPay Raceway song that is making it's way on people's blogs and forums around the net.
Were some of the songs that The Monkees sung meant to be used later to express how the people feel about stormpuke? Maybe. Here are the original lyrics to "I'm not your steppin' stone" and "The Monkees theme song" and decide for yourself if my theory is right or wrong [Meanwhile, we'll have to wait and see what Part 19 will bring]:
(I’m not your) steppin’ stone
By tommy boyce and bobby hart
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
You’re trying to make your mark in society
Your using all the tricks that you used on me.
You’re reading all them high fashion magazines
The clothes you’re wearin’ girl are causing public scenes.
I said
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
Not your stepping stone,
Not your stepping stone.
When I first met you girl you didn’t have no shoes
Now you’re walking ’round like you’re front page news.
You’ve been awful careful ’bout the friends you choose
But you won’t find my name in your book of who’s who.
I said
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
I I i I I’m not your stepping stone
Not your stepping stone,
Not your stepping stone.
Theme from The Monkees
By tommy boyce and bobby hart
Here we come, walkin’
Down the street.
We get the funniest looks from
Ev’ry one we meet.
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.
We go wherever we want to,
Do what we like to do
We don’t have time to get restless,
There’s always something new.
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.
We’re just tryin’ to be friendly,
Come and watch us sing and play,
We’re the young gneration,
And we’ve got something to say.
Any time, or anywhere,
Just look over your shoulder
Guess who’ll be standing there
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.
(break)
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around.
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.
We’re just tryin’ to be friendly,
Come and watch us sing and play,
We’re the young gneration,
And we’ve got something to say.
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
[repeat and fade]
Extra verse:
Hey, hey, we’re the monkees,
You never know where we’ll be found.
So you’d better get ready,
We may be comin’ to your town.
